
Jessi and I have been training for the last month for our race on January 9th at Ocean Isle Beach. Our workouts have included sprint work, spinning, endurance, and tempo runs. Last year, Jessi participated and finished 4th in her age category. Our goal this year is to place in the top three overall. The training has been intense. It’s hard to get started but feels GREAT once you’ve accomplished the run of the day! Jessi’s favorite workout is track for speed work! We have averaged 20-25 miles per week alternating tempo, pace, and endurance. Our goal is to 23:00. First half of race has hill over bridge but last mile is flat. We have completed the training for this particular race and have plateaued our workouts for muscle recovery. I am very proud of Jessi, she has done an amazing job in training for this race.
